AYAME TENCHU ARTWORK & A MIGRAINE
I forgot I finished this digital art titled 'Ayame Flowers' a few weeks back around Chinese New Year festivities. It took a while. I drew Ayame because of my Tenchu-clan revival on DeviantArt and saw a Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven playthrough on Youtube. Oh and sad to say I am no longer 'Grandmaster' level... the last time I played to test the xbox, my score level was something like 'Novice' since I forgot all the controls and where the enemies were lol.... didn't finish Tenchu Z either because Rikimaru & Ayame were either absent or not playable.
Back to this art: after experimenting with the background & that glare effect, I went to bed. The next morning I had an occular migraine lol. Not sure if it was the red or the glare that did it, or the MSG in my junk food, or that the afternoon was too bright, or didn't get enough sleep, but I offed the background colour while working on her clothes after that, just in case.
Anyhow the migraine was unusual since I've usually had classic migraines, the kind with the blurred aura vision. This one came with flashes of colour on my left sight, like pixel graininess flashing. They remind me of an lcd screen breaking down or an incompatible graphics card. I recall it was mostly red and green. And with eyes closed the flashes were still there so it wasn't astigmatism. Then the migraine lasted about 5 hours which doesn't sound as bad as my usual 10-12 hour ones. But it was made worse that day because it was Chinese New Year and gah... the lion dances and clashing of cymbals & drums went on for the ENTIRE day downstairs, a few troupes were performing consecutively even. Competing who made the loudest noise perhaps? sheesh. I almost died of sound. Normally it's annoying on a healthy day if you ever hear those you know what I mean, but when you get a migraine the din is magnified ten times and each clash equals to a throb in the brain blood vessel. So sorry for being a whiny wet blanket, they may chase away bad luck and blah, but go away please. Talk about aggravation. My bf said: Sorry but you picked a wrong time to fall sick! Indeed.
So hope you like this Ayame pic dedicated to Tenchu fans (after bearing with my complaining). This post was meant to be just a paragraph long but guess I remembered some stuff now. A nice thing I do have to say is that the background is from a photo I took at Huntington Gardens. Their Japanese garden is quite pretty and I wanted Ayame to show her more serene side! The next time she's drawn, she will be back with blades.

SUPER SAILOR MOON PAINTING
Took a while on this lady - Super Sailor Moon! I probably should do Eternal Sailor Moon as a finale? I don't fancy her poufy ball sleeves or the tiered skirt as much. This painting didn't quite turn out the dreamy way I had pictured in my mind, the way Takeuchi Naoko's beautiful ink artworks are.

Initial sketch. Originally her hand was up but it ended up covering the brooch so I altered it. |

Traced onto the canvas. |

Base paint and the reference pictures. |

She originally had the rainbow graduating colours on the collar and skirt hem like in the manga, but I just couldn't do it properly in acrylic because there was no space to blend the five colours. |

So plain blue. I checked the anime version on how they did the cels and followed suit. |

Shading done. The trouble to mix four additional colours just for dots (representing gemstones) on the brooch made me wish for it to be completed already! |

I added lines to the painting using acrylic ink mixed with paint, added stray hairs, accents. |

Finished piece. The background has tiny white stars but it is too faint to see it from this scan, it is more vibrant in person! If you like to own this painting, she is available in my Etsy shop! 25 x 35cm, acrylic on canvas, unvarnished. Clicky here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/176659892 |

SAILOR MOON PAINTING ON CANVAS
Here is my first art for 2014. It is a Sailor Moon fanart as promised, acrylic paint on canvas, lines are done on acrylic ink, 25 x 35 cm.
I am currently painting another Sailor Moon! If you want a commission just e-mail me at chibilemon (at) gmail.com or convo me at Etsy if you have an account. The painting can be purchased in my Etsy shop, not sure how much to price fanart so it is going lower than my original art: https://www.etsy.com/listing/174843885

Pencil sketch very early on. This is just a snapshot I took for instagram by the way. After that I inked it onto tracing paper and transfer the image onto canvas with carbon paper. So 3-4 times drawing the same image. |

Base paint. |

Added rough shadows and got the outlines more concealed. |

More shadings and layers of paint. I realised my light source was coming in the opposite direction on different parts so I redid some parts. |

Added finishing details. I was wondering if how to do the outlines so popped by the art store and bought acrylic ink in brown. |
